The Pure Lotus Absolutes (blue, white, and pink) are cultivated in India. The flowers of Blue Lotus are used for ornaments and as offerings in temples. They were once used as a source of Lotus (Kamal) Perfume, which was highly prized; the present day lotus perfume is a blend of patchouli, benzoin and styrax with phenylethyl and cinnamic alcohols. The honey from bees which visit lotus flowers is reported to possess tonic properties and is also considered useful for infections of the eye. The Lotus flower is often viewed as a symbol of awakening because it grows in muddy ponds of sometimes stagnant water, but it continues blossoms every day with the morning sun. Lotus is known for its ability to calm and sooth. People often feel more open to forgiveness and kindness when using it. Lotus has an exotic floral aroma with slightly herbaceous and medicinal top notes. Lotus was sacred to Saraswati - the goddess of learning, knowledge, and wisdom.
This rarest of Lotus Blossoms, Blue, yields an ethereal absolute. Light, delicate in aroma, not as floral as the more common Pink or White Lotus Blossoms, but its' effects on the spirit are amazing. A "must have" for anyone working with the chakras, doing energy work, or using the oils as a part of their spiritual journey. This celestial & obscure Lotus oil is renowned for spiritual growth, rejuvenation, clairvoyance, healing, and balancing. Use this oil for any meditative perfume oil blends, sacred products, psychic development or candle anointing. It is said to produce a feeling of joy that permeates the whole body, emanating from every cell that is delightfully wonderful and lasts for some time. The Blue Lotus provides a relaxing, euphoric sensation which helps to relieve muscle spasms and is considered a sedative. The Blue Lotus was sacred to the ancient Egyptians for its magical uses and sweet smelling aroma. The Sacred Lotus flower was what the Ulysses' crew smoked after coming ashore following years at sea.
It is important to note that absolutes are extremely concentrated by nature. They should not be evaluated in this state unless you are accustomed to the undiluted fragrance. For those trying Absolutes for the first time, we strongly recommend they be evaluated in dilution (or blend form) first. Otherwise, the complexity of the fragrance, particularly the rare and exotic notes, may be lost.
Safety Warning: None. Never ingest essential oils without a prescription. Use carrier oil when applying to skin.
